    Challenge Week Nine

This week’s challenge is to wax poetic about…a bolt.

    The Bolt of Truth

    wounded by sentiment
    words as weapons
a bolt straight to the heart
    I know, you know,
we know the truth of words
    even a lie
    carries kernels, its seeds
    ready to grow
    to strangle or secure
    the strange soil
of our minds eye turned in
    or out. me or
thee? what is there to see?
    ivy covers
    the crumbling facade
    invisible
    till the moment it falls
    inward, broken.

    May 24th

This day was sacred to the Mothers, three goddesses worshiped in Celtic countries as bringers of prosperity and good harvests.

The birth of the Greek moon-goddess Artemis (who also presides over hunting and wild beasts) is remembered. As a lunar goddess, she has been an influential archetype for many Witches and worshipers of the contemporary Goddess religion. Artemis is equivalent to the Roman moon-goddess Diana and is identified with Luna, Hecate, and Selene.

The feast day of Hermes Trismegistus, patron of alchemy, is celebrated today.

An annual harvest ritual called Bonn Chroat Preah Nongkoal, or Sacred Furrow Day, is held in Cambodia. As part of the rite, the farmland is plowed by members of the royal family in order to appease the ancient gods of the harvest, ensuring the fertility of the land. After circling the rice field three times, the procession stops at a chapel where Brahmin invoke the protection of the Gods. The sacred cows are released from their harnesses and guided to seven silver trays containing rice, corn, bean, and other edibles. Predictions are made for the coming year based on what they choose. If they choose the cereals, the harvest will be good, but if they eat herbs, cattle diseases are to be feared. Rain will be abundant and peace will reign if they prefer the water, while the alcohol, is an augury of trouble in the Kingdom.

  • This is good poetry.  A lot of the stuff I read on here has good sentiment but is too wordy.  This is sparse and evocative.  You win.

  • i like your poem.  it’s very “flowy” off the brain (instead of tongue since im thinking it in my head not saying it).

  • I would kill truth when it became absolute. A fantastic poem it is.

  • I like the challenge of doing these in as few words as meets the paradigm…so with that in mind:

    That lightening bolt that is
    The lance of your glance
    Strikes; LOVE in REVOLT.

  • RYC:  He passes those dot tests, and as aliashope pointed out, he’s a pilot, so I guess the colorblindness isn’t that bad.  He wears black or tan pants to his current job – I just remind him not to try to match black and black…  He doesn’t get that not all black is the same color.

Cool!!!  I can’t write poetry worth a damn.  I hope the sacred cattle preferred the cereal and water!

  • @Wes_Gumbo - Get out your weapons…Truth is, indeed, absolute.  Each “square” in the ALCHEMICAL VAULT represents an absolute truth.

  • @BADBOYDOOMDADDY - No offense. To kill an absolute truth is not an act of aggression. It means that I want to give every truth, absolute or not, the benefit of doubts. The moment one believing in an absolute truth, one risks to turn it into a blind faith. I prefer to treat all truths with sincerity and a beginner’s mind. It heightens my awareness and understanding this way.

  • @Wes_Gumbo - No offense taken.  You have a notion of these things that is exoteric. The point I was making is that Absolute Truth exists within esoterica and has nothing to do with faith or belief.  In fact, we understand that to be a slave to faith and belief is crippling and leaves one incapable of grasping the absolutes of QBL and alchemy.  It is also our understanding that no matter what weapons one chooses to assail Truth with, it is before us and after us, unassailable.  I am found of putting such things in a ridiculous light.  It is tantamount to one of your dingle berries challenging your existence.
