  • Centipedes… Stay out of my head!

I had a horribly creepy dream last night. Well, if not for the giant centipedes, it wouldn’t have been too bad, but darn it, I hate centipedes. They’re the only bug that I have issues with. I’ve been known to pick up other bugs, including spiders, with my bare hands… but centipedes? ::shudder:: Too many legs. Waaaaaaaaaaay too many legs. It’s an irrational fear… I am bigoted against centipedes. Hopefully in the infinite reaches of space, there are no such sentient creatures because I’m afraid I would have to encourage humanity to commit xenocide on such unholy monstrosities.

I was an orphan and my guardian was a tomb robber. We traveled throughout space, looking for dead races to exploit. We entered a pyramid on a dead world that seemed oddly familiar to me. It seemed familiar to my guardian too and he didn’t stick around to explore and grab alien tech like he usually did. Something happened to me in the pyramid, but I wasn’t conscious of what. My guardian seemed scared though and that made me scared.

Shortly after we left the planet, I began having visions of being much younger and in an escape pod where giant centipedes crawled all over me and nibbled on my flesh. Something in their venom preserved my life and flesh, even as they fed on me. So I could be kept alive indefinitely in the escape pod until I was found. I was supposed to be asleep, but there was some kind of malfunction in the pod which caused me to be aware of the centipedes.

I told my guardian about my dream/vision and became completely freaked out. Shortly thereafter, we were overtaken by several war ships. They had some connection to the deserted planet and my memories. The military were part of an elite guard and insisted we accompany them to meet with their queen.

When we arrived, we were led into a dining room where only a dozen or so people were eating. None of them looked very happy to be there, and all of them seemed very afraid of the queen. Her skin seemed tight on her bones and she was very thin. And I knew… I just knew that she was covered with centipedes. She was preserving her life unnaturally through the centipedes and had been doing so for so long that she was more centipede than human. There were gases and drugs that were supposed to keep the centipedes in check, as when a person was in an escape pod for instance, but because she was not in such a controlled environment, they had pretty much taken over her body and mind.

It seemed that I was the long lost heir to the throne. My mother had been the queen’s daughter, but when her mother started using the centipedes without the proper safeguards, she became afraid and tried to escape. She was killed, but I was lost in space. Apparently the world with the pyramid was where the centipedes came from originally and some vestigial memory from the enzymes I was exposed to in the pod made the pyramid seem familiar. I’m not sure why the Queen’s shops found us after visiting that world, unless they had some way or reason to monitor that world.

My dream pretty much ended with some of the nobles trying to smuggle me back off the world with my grave-robbing guardian. I don’t know if they were successful.

I took an empathy test that breaks down what kind of empath a person supposedly is. I didn’t really like the questions. Some of them weren’t very clear and overall it seemed a bit simplistic, but here are the results.

What Kind of Empath Are You?
    You scored as a Healer
    You
are a Healer Empath. You take in the energy of others and transmute it.
You trigger transformation in others and free trapped energy. You are
capable of great healing abilities. You walk between the worlds and
bring waves of healing energy with your presence.

  • I got: You are a Shamanic Empath. You are at one with nature and can speak with animal/plant life. Your powers come from the Sun & the Moon, and the elements. The weather moves with your mind and all of nature is at your beck and call.

I agree with your take on the  questions.

  • i don’t like centipedes either. but i did have a question. what is an empath?

    *complex

  • @Complex_Simplicity_0705 - An empath is someone who picks up on the emotions of the people around them. It’s a shortened form of the word empathy, denoting a person who shares a psychic connection with others which affects their moods (instead of picking up thoughts, as with telepathy). There are a growing number of people who identify as empaths. Some say the ability is the next step in human evolution and that it is part of a physiological change which science has not yet explored. I tend to think it is a throwback to a more primitive state that we once shared with other animals. I consider all animals and children to be empathic, but up until the present adult generation, it was something most adults grew out of. Some say that it is due to the higher than normal birth of indigo and crystal children and that this is due in turn to the approach of 2012 (at which time humanity is supposed to ascend to the next level or fall back into a dark age). I tend to think it is due to our status as a herd/pack animals and the social pressures of our increasingly crowded lifestyle which causes us to pick up on the rest of the “pack” for cues as to how we should act and react in social situations. But that’s my theory and you won’t find it in any of the literature available online or in stores. Think of it as a spiritual/psychic explanation for EQ (emotional quotient) as opposed to IQ.

  • Uhg, that is a horrible dream.    I don’t like centipedes either.  ::shudder::  One year when I was in high school, me and my family came back from vacation, and our entire house was infested with baby centipedes.  There were so many of them they literally covered the entire floor in our living room.  We had to vacuum them up with the hose attachment on the vacuum and there were bags and bags of squiggling centipedes.  OMG IT WAS SO GROSS!

I was a Judge Empath.  Since both my sun and moon signs are libra, this isn’t a surprise.  “You are one who is a ‘truthsayer’. You can tell truth from lies, good from evil. You do not tolerate wrong doing. You are a defender of the good and the innocent. You are kind and merciful but do not play foolish games.”  I guess that’s true enough, although I don’t know many people who like to play foolish games.

  • I am with you on the centipedes, I can’t stand them!  they give me the creeps!

  • I can relate! I can hold bees in my hands. No problem with spiders. But centipedes, and even perfectly harmless millipedes, give me the willies.  Scared they are going to crawl in my ears and eat my thoughts or something equally as strange.

  • @harmony0stars - Darling, I don’t mean to challenge you on the herd/pack theory, but it is a very wrong.  Many of man’s mystical and psychic abilities are not at all unique to man.  They are actually more evident in certain subspecies of macaques throughout Southeast Asia, and as far north west as the Rock of Gibraltar (the Gibraltar ape) and south east as Japan, the mountain macaque.  It is a throwback in man.  All mysticism and psychic ability is.  I have studied simians extensively in relationship to these phenomena, including macaque and man.  Such things are noticeably more lacking in the higher apes, gorilla, chimpanzee, and gibbon, who are more an extended family structure.  These gifts are totally lacking in upper canopy herd simians.   I have seen some very strange phenomena in the emo herd species of capuchin and woolie, but not in the wild in the usual herd social structure.  It was when they were forced to live as a pair in captivity.  I believe it was the result of the unnatural (for them) relationship.  The had become more loving in psychic illness to the point of demonstrating uncanny empathy (even producing rolls in the dreams of humans around them).

Macaques are distinctly tribal.  They have very strong natural hierarchal social structure.  This includes shaman status.  The more strong shaman a tribe has, the smoother the social interaction and the more they incline “mysteriously” away from threat before it occurs, thus making for a calmer central alpha figure, peaceful mating, and more successful hunting and grazing.  This produces an all around healthier tribe, more inclined to invent and discover man like methods.  It is very clear to me from years of research that it is a tribal phenomena.

  • @harmony0stars - Another interesting point;  the human populations around macaque tribes, very much resemble, in social structure and temperament, the indigenous macaques in each area.  It is my contention that these tribes magically determine the character of surrounding humans.

  • sounds like you had an epic dream.  one you could write a book about and then have a fallowing movie   i’d probably watch it.  i like pyramids… not so much centipedes but wait…  did you watch the movie “the mummy”?  there were bugs crawling in skin and pyramids…

  • I scored the same as you…Healer Empath.  My only question is what’s the difference between Shaman and Healer because aren’t shamans considered healers in indigenous tribes.  ::::scratches head::::

  • I got the 100% Shaman with Healer at 95%.  I found the questions interesting in the fact that I found no middle ground.  It was a total agree or disagree for me.

  • @BADBOYDOOMDADDY - I’d never presume that psychic abilities are unique to man, and I did say that most animals are empathic in a way that most humans grow out of. I do feel that animals which congregate are more likely to exhibit psychic/empathic ability however… and that quality includes dogs/wolves, cats, horses, pigs, birds, rats, and apes. Humans are a herd animal as well. I am not surprised that human groups living in close proximity to other psychically gifted populations would pick up on the same “frequencies.” I still think that psychic ability is an outgrowth of herding mentality though. Such abilities are more evident in herding animals. And as with all things in nature, the stronger will dominate the weaker. So if the Macaques have the stronger “signal,” then anything in the area will be subject to it, including humans. Mainly I offer my theory as an alternative to those who like to use increasing psychic ability in humans to inflate our self importance…. 2012 all that.

  • @jaeyounglee - Yeah, that was another problem I had with the test, but apparently the test is based on the books of Jad Alexander, who it seems has very different ideas about healers and shamans. I think he differentiates between the two by making healers, just healers, and shamans more connected to nature. Which is weird for me too, as I’ve always considered myself as much shaman as healer. I definitely have a very strong connection to nature. I mean, I “talk” to trees and rocks and animals as much as I sense things from humanity. In fact, I am much more comfortable in the natural world than I am with other people.

  • @NightlyDreams - The Mummy and the scarab beetles was exactly what I thought of when I woke up, except the centipedes didn’t burrow. They nibbled.

  • @harmony0stars - I certainly agree with you. In all but herd and tribe significance.  I dedicated twenty years of life living with all kinds of animals to get a better handle on it. “Evidence” of empathy can be seen in bees and ants. It can be seen in vast herds and schools.  What is observed there is profoundly interesting for other reasons, and does represent “shared” mind. Our “gift” only begins to occur in tribal units.  Some pack animals, wolves for instance, are tribal.  Even some birds, ravens, are tribal.  They have something similar comprising group thought.  It is only similar in any actual way, in the macaque, to man.  Macaques share with man the characteristic of some individuals being gifted and some not at all.  An alpha, except in the rarest of instances is a total redneck. There are hormonal increases in the “gift” in pregnant females. With the shaman individuals it is taught and passed on.  It develops into “religion” with religious artifacts. This develops into “culture” practices, just as it does in man. The better established “religions” of larger tribes develop rational thinking, just as in our own species.  I will be sharing more of what I discovered in Southeast Asia and in living with a variety of simians stateside if I can manage to stay on Xanga.

  • @BADBOYDOOMDADDY - It is very likely man has a common ancestor to the higher apes and this is verified in DNA studies.  That ancestor provides one set of inclinations.  There is very strong indications we share a much more distant ancestor with the macaques, and that ancestor provides our more psychic inclinations, very slowly being bread out by the higher ape side of the equation.

  • Interesting dream.  Did you research centipedes and what they possibly mean?  Here’s one link I found.  http://www.dreammoods.com/dreamthemes/bugs.htm
