Answer any one or all of these questions in the coming
week. I try to mix the whimsical with the serious here, so hopefully
there is at least one question here for everyone.

    June 23rd

St. John’s Eve was a traditional time for meditation while waiting for sunrise. Whatever their origin, the Midsummer fires were held from Ireland to Russia, and from Norway and Sweden to Spain and Greece. According to a medieval writer, the three great features of the Midsummer celebration were the bonfires, the procession with torches round the fields, and the custom of rolling a wheel (representing the sun). In Portugal, the spirits of the dead roam free on Saint John’s Eve.

At one time, two hills near Lough Gur were the focus of sacred rites in honor of the Fairy Goddesses, Aine and Fennel (or Finnen). One, about three miles southwest of the lake, is called Knock Aine or Ane. Aine is an ancient Irish goddess and member of the Sidhe, whose name is derived from An, meaning bright. Every St. John’s Night, the peasantry would gather to watch the moon. In this way, Aine seems to have been a moon goddess like Diana. With torches of straw or hay tied on poles, they would march from the hill and then run through cultivated fields and among the cattle. This was to expel all evil spirits from the land so that there would be good harvests.

Ishtar and Tammuz were honored today, as were Astarte, Aphrodite, Venus and Adonis.

  • The purpose of existence…

    Emerson says it well:

    “Almost all people

    descend to meet”
    and I agree.

    Hello

    Merrily Merrily Merrily…

  • The purpose of my existence….

Wow.  I think if I knew the purpose of my existence, my life would be a whole lot easier.  Definitely less confusing.  Hopefully it’s something positive.

  • What is the purpose of your existence?
My Purpose of existing is to be a healer for all. To care for and about others. I am a servent to the God and the Goddess. I have spoken to her and she says I must become that of a healer, of what exact kind I’m not sure, of who? Whoever needs it, I’m currently practicing Reiki, herbal Magick, Candle Magick, and such which all has helped me along with healing and enlightening myself into more spirituality. I also know I am supposed to be apart of something big, and I think I may have found it, bringing peace, love, care to the world and it’s environment and people. I am an evironmentalist, a minister, a teacher, a student, and a healer..this is why I am here.

    Why do you blog?
I blog to share my ideas with others, to let people know that maybe there is someone out there like them, and who understands them and cares about them. I also blog to share my beliefs with others, also leading to resources about the craft so that they can further move along with their studies, and minimize the confusion about the craft. I am here as a teacher as well. I love to share my knowledge with anyone who cares to read what I have to say, though I may not write a blog everyday I do keep up with my subscriptions.

What is the ultimate thing you would do for someone and why?
The most ultimate thing I would do for someone is to teach them. I think education is one of the most fulfilling things and prized possesion one could get, especially when it’s spiritual teaching and not that mumbo jumbo in highschools that they throw out. Not to say that all highschool isnt nessiary, Im just saying I wish they were more worried about teaching students instead of reaching the standards and flying through everything so fast you don’t even know your face from your ass. That’s not teaching in my opinion, I find myself lucky when I actually find a good one.

Exactly how do you let out your anger/frustration?
I write, a lot, blogging it, or journaling it. Sometimes I have to talk to my friends about it. Other times I meditate, I have had a bunch of stress in my life I don’t like to keep it going.

What is one book or movie that has impacted your life?
There are actually a few I will name:

Titanic: yes I know kindof corny, but I know in a former life I was on that ship, I don’t know if I made it or not, but my lover didn’t make it.

Premonition:No I didn’t like this movie, but it put in perspective how easy it is to lose someone close to you, no matterhow hard you try to save them. I was depressed for about a week or two after that movie.

Buckland’s complete book of witchcraft: I know more about Wicca and witchcraft then I ever thought I would.

  • Somehow I missed these ones. I think I’ll answer at my site.
