Sick, sick, sick
I am sick… I am sick of being sick. I have been sick more times this year (counting from August to August) than I have in the past ten. Not to go into detail here, but I had to bolt to the bathroom at 3:30 this morning (because I was well aware that I was about to be sick) and in the process… broke the toilet seat and “woke up” with my head in the magazine bin next to the toilet. That’ll be the third time I’ve been sick this year and fainted, the fourth time in two years. I never fainted in my entire life until now, in my thirties, when I get sick, apparently I faint. I banged my head near my eye and it’s all sore. I couldn’t find my glasses at first and thought maybe in my haste that I left them in my room. When I did find them, the frames were bent and I had to ever so carefully bend them right again and Hope that I did not break them in the process.
But hey! It’s been a week since I finally stopped bleeding, so there’s that. :-/ I don’t know if I shared this, but tried to make an appointment with a gyno because of the fact that I hadn’t stopped bleeding in 5 months and they basically told me to go to an emergency room. Some help they were. Jerks. But since I stopped on my own, I’ve been thinking of making an appointment somewhere (not the place that I called who made me cry with their indifference). Now I don’t know if I should make an appointment with a regular doctor because of my proclivity for fainting when I’m sick (I also break out into a cold sweat before/during the fainting spell and wake up sopping). I’m thinking my blood pressure is either going really low or really high. I’m leaning towards low though because it’s always been lowish. On the other hand, it might just be that I’m fainting because this usually happens in the middle of the night, so I wake up from a sound sleep to stumble down the stairs before “impending doom” strikes and that I am not actually fainting (though the sweat thing leads me to belive otherwise). Maybe I am just falling asleep from sheer exhaustion and waking upon impact.
I don’t know, but I am tired of it. Really, really tired of it. I called in to work today because, so far, there have been no fainting spells at work, though there’ve been a couple times where it came close. I Really would rather not lose consciousness at work. Talk about embarrassing. At least I’m not a girly-girl… I don’t have to worry about the awkwardness of a wardrobe malfunction in the midst of a loss of consciousness if I’m at work. And of course, aside from my head aching around my eye, I’m still sick. I do hope this doesn’t trigger more bleeding… I just got done with that, but that’s kind of how it started five months ago…I am going back to bed now. Goodnight/morning/afternoon.
August 8th
The Dog Days of summer, deriving their name from the Dog Star Sirius, visible before sunrise between July 3rd and August 11th, will end soon. The appearance of Sirius coincided with the rise of the Nile, but for the Greeks and Romans, it merely meant a time of heat and disease associated with irritability, ill health, and death. Sounds like summer to me.
This is Tij Day in Nepal, also known as Woman’s Holiday or Haritalika. It honors Parvati, the consort of Shiva, and Krishna. A married woman may visit her parents on this day. Women wear green saris.

I never knew that about the dog days of summer! I really hope you feel well soon. I know all to well your feeling. *hugs*
I think you should go to the regular doctor first, then maybe she/he can track down the reasons you are having the problems. I hope you feel better soon.
Hm, I’d say if you’ve been bleeding for 5 months, the fainting is probably a side affect of low iron or something like that. I’d make an appointment with a gyno, but that’s me, I’m no doctor. You should definitley see someone though.
Usually the regular doctor can lead you to what other doctors you may want to visit if they can’t help you with your problems first. I’m so sorry to hear that you are sick! I hope that you feel better soon.
Yeah, usually you have to go to a pcp first to get a referral to even see a specialist, so I would do that. I hate going to doctors too and have been having problems with them myself lately, but sometimes it’s unavoidable, especially if you live in an area without an alternative medicine specialist. The fainting thing isn’t good.
Get well soon! Hugs.
I had fainting spells for a while when I was a kid. It turned out to be an inner ear problem with too much water being in one ear from swimming too much. My brother also has an inner ear problem which makes him sick, have horrid headaches, and has to crawl to the bathroom. I would definitely see a doctor soon. Sending you some healing energy.
i would definitely go get help somewhere. if not a regular doctor then some emergency medical someoneorother. i would also tell them about the bleeding. the fainting could still be a result of it and the pressure from trying to puke. you could still be low of blood enough to faint. but it could also not have anything to do with the other. who knows. im not a med. expert in the least.
I checked out my sister’s Celtic horoscope, and the one based on her birthday is eerily accurate. I don’t know if I buy mine or my hubby’s, though I’m sure each has some truth. But here’s my Laura’s. She’s a special’n. http://www.spiritproject.com/horoscope/celts/oak.htm
Girl, you need to take steps. There’s a lot of comments already encouraging you to see a doc, but maybe you need to start with looking at your maladies and your lifestyle. You’ve spoken before about problems with allergies; maybe this is a food allergy thing. It could also be a chronic low-grade infection. The bleeding issue could be cysts…when your gyno told you to go to the emergency room, did s/he tell you to ask for specific tests (what assholes, btw)?
I don’t know, my thought with something this chronic is that is something you’re putting in your body, or something you’re neglecting to put in your body. Or maybe hormonal, particularly with the bleeding. Good luck…
@Lmoisan - @Jemstone05 - @TheCheshireGrins - @heidenkind - @Broom_Service - @NightlyDreams - @mama_jess - So far, so good, I haven’t started bleeding again, so I made an appointment with a regular doctor Monday, but I won’t get to see her until the 28th. I’ll see what she says and if she recommends going to the Gyno, then I will, but maybe she’ll address the whole problem instead of just the bleeding. Last time (when I had the same extended problem) I had all kinds of tests from the Gyno, including ultrasounds to see if there were any abnormalities, and all that ended up happening was she put me on a patch to regulate my hormones. I’d rather not mess with hormones at all if I can help it. I’m hoping the regular doctor will do blood work, put me on an antibiotic if I’ve got an infection of some kind, and tell me if maybe I need more iron. I’m not one of those vegetarians who lives on chips though. I have a pretty good diet, not perfect, but better than some. I’m actually more concerned with the fainting than the bleeding. The bleeding is annoying, but the fainting is scarier.
@harmony0stars - Good luck! I’ll be thinking of you, I hope it’s nothing too serious.
