On this night it is customary to pay homage to the fairy guardians of blackthorn trees. They are wizened little stick figures with long arms and fingers for climbing between the thorns. According to one legend, they only leave their trees during full moons.

The Yoruba tribe of Nigeria revere twins who are honored with special dinners today. If one of the twins has died, a special doll is made to take its place so that the living twin is not drawn into death as well.

You know what really matters? Grammar.
I like the arranged marriage question. I really want to argue they’re great, just to play devil’s advocate.
@Broom_Service - Well, you know that’s debatable in and of itself. Some say a virgin is a woman who is unattached. Some say a woman is a virgin if she has had no children. And the most popular definition is simply that a woman has not ever had sex.
@heidenkind - It’s definitely important to know what people think of your grammar, which leads right into the last question… do you consider yourself crazy? lol
I think there are good points to arranged marriages, but I’m glad no one ever decided to fix me up! o.O
@harmony0stars - The good point to an arranged marriage is, you can blame your parents if it sucks.
@heidenkind - Actually, I was thinking the good point of an arranged marriage would be that no one would be alone. If arranged marriages were the norm, you’d basically be assured companionship.
@harmony0stars - In most societies where arranged marriages are the norm, one doesn’t expect to find companionship in marriage. And if you’re a woman, I doubt they even care whether you find companionship or not.
@heidenkind - True, but ideally, if it worked for both parties instead of one, an arranged marriage would mean no one was alone.
@harmony0stars - You could just live with your original family and not be alone that way.
@heidenkind - Mmm, well, sometimes families get sick of you and want you to “spread your wings.”
@harmony0stars - True, but if you’re married (especially at a young age to an older man, which is usually the case in arranged marriages) with kids you can’t really be independent and spread your wings, either.
@heidenkind - Wait… I thought you wanted to play devil’s advocate. Shouldn’t you be playing it best case scenario?
