How arrogant do you have to be to see the death and suffering of hundreds of thousands of people as an opportunity to tempt those same people in their moment of trauma to leave their religion for your own? I ask because today I came upon this article Tsunami Survivors Desperate for Help, Open to Gospel which urges “Christians around the world to re-evaluate their evangelistic efforts” in the wake of this devastation of life and land. They see the disaster as “a desperate cry for [evangelists] to not lose any more opportunities [to share the gospel], but to be unselfish in [their] praying and [their] giving to touch a world that never heard Jesus’ name.”
What the hell? Can’t these people just be selfless without thinking about what they can get out of the deal? If they want to help out the victims of the disaster, all well and good, but why do they have to use this as an opportunity to increase their dwindling numbers by virtue of mind numbing shock? And the sad thing is, they probably don’t even see how opportunitistic and mercenary they’re being.
They’re quoted in the article as saying: “As we go about ministering to the suffering people — tens of thousands of people — I’m hearing that many are listening and [asking] why it happened, saying ‘We prayed to our gods’ and ‘Our gods did this to us.’”
Yeah, so they’re going to convert these poor traumatized souls to Christianity because nothing bad ever happens to Christians. Riiiiiiiight….
Then they go on to say: “Of course, our missionaries are able to explain to them that God is love, [that] Satan is causing this disaster, and that we can trust God,” he says. “There’s such a dire need at this time — and I pray that people of God will wake up and do what we should do at this time.”
Yeeeaaaaaaaaah, we can trust the Christian god to watch while his alter-ego causes disasters. And I wonder just what it is that “we should do at this time?” Take advantage of our fellow man in his hour of need, seems like, eh?
What they should really do at this time is get a clue. This is exactly the kind of behavior that gives Christians a bad name. Why can’t they just help out without turning all Borg on the survivors and assimilating them. Is it so they can make back their investment in tithing? Disgusting, just disgusting.

That’s as bad as the “christians” (I use the term lightly here, hence its not capitalized) who are saying that the people in those regions were “godless” or did something wrong which is why the tsunami hit there.
Those comments blew me away. As we as scaring the crap out of me that there are actually people in this world who believe that way.
That is disgusting. You are right, they do give Christians a bad name. I’m sorry but if Christ came to give salvation…he wasn;t stupid. He knew that theer would be poepl who wouldn;t be reached. They acn be just as good and pure as soem devout Christian.Different religions and beliefs have common truths and ideas, so there is no reson to say that this or that religion is better…
I’m gonna look into this topic some more too..here’s something which made me sick.
Read your 12/16 post…think it was just what I needed to read.
Savage always makes me sick. All those big radio talkshow bigots make me sick. If they have all the answers, why aren’t they in politics? It’s because they’d rather stir up the ants’ nest than actually follow through on any of their rants.
I took the time to leave a comment, though I don’t imagine it will change anyone’s mind. The other commentors seem mostly to agree with the bigot.
At any rate, below is my response to his stupidity:
First of all, I don’t agree with Savage’s assessment of the people affected by this disaster; there are a lot of innocent men, women, and children affected by this that have nothing to do with the religious zealots that keep him up nights. Beyond that, what Savage fails to understand is that even if we are “helping our enemies,” we’ll never be better than the people who attack us if we act just like them. Whereas if we act with dignity, honor, and compassion, even in such cases as this where the disaster does not immediately affect us in far away America, we will always have friends and allies who will stand by us in the event we are attacked. More than that, the fact that we act to help “our enemies” may stop some of them from becoming our enemies or turning against us at a later date. Ignoring their plight will only lead to resentment and hatred. Understand that I in no way agree with Savage’s labelling of the people affected by the tsunami as our enemies, but if he’s looking for a reason not to help them, he’s really got to do a better job at developing his paranoid excuses than this.
Yeah, what she said! Michael Savage is a racist, retarded jerkoff full of :BS:
Hey, “christians”, good luck converting Indonesia! Morons!
WOW…. I must agree that a profit shouln’t be made from any disaster but that is the natue of people not religion. .. esp. christanity .. ” freely you have recived ….. freely give” however as I had a pastor quote to me once. the only bad thing about churches is that they have people in them. ( this has proved to be one of the most insightful religious comments I have ever heard) just remember that not all christians are this way.
That is sooo the christian way… They slaughtered indigenous peoples in their conversions, when they set out to “discover” the New World…and here is a New World, once again..with people who are too ignorant to understand the so-called truths they are being told. Where are the Lightworkers? I’m praying they are hot on the heals of the christians, with the same messages of Love, without the hype.
I have nothing against what people believe…but I do have something against using fear and lies to control other people…especially those who are so vulnerable (like children).
Although I completely agree with the US’s support of the aid for the tsunami victims, I was astounded to hear one of the drug companies donated $35mil when my mother can’t even afford to buy her medications. (And after June, I’ll have no medical insurance…other than the worker’s comp that takes care of my back…) There are problems when our own country can’t take care of its own people…
I don’t believe this should be any kind of image campaign…other than that of fellow humans helping fellow humans.
I was wondering how you were…:)
Peace and Love…It’s all I ever hope for…GFW
thanks for the dream interpretation <3
i hate these supposed “christians” they really have no idea what they’re talking about when they talk about god
This is why
