Another short entry
Finally I finished Alhazred... a disappointing finish. 600+ and it pretty much stops in the middle of the story. Grrr. That makes the historical inaccuracies all the more annoying. I am not pleased.
Now I am reading the new Hellboy novelization. I liked the first movie novelization by Yvonne Navarro. I had not heard of the author before, but it was well done and much creepier than the movie turned out to be. Of course, reading the book and seeing the movie turned me on to the comic which I now collect (among others). I've read the intervening Hellboy novels and been more or less impressed with them, especially Emerald Hell, which was the book that came out prior to The Golden Army.... very deep south ghost story. Fun! In total there are nine Hellboy novels, not to be confused with the graphic novels, and this new one is the first one I haven't liked. It backtracks a lot, repeating cannon from the first movie that is not cannon from the comics or other novels. And the author's style is a bit simplistic. So... not impressed, but reading it anyway because the story has fairies and environmental issues.
I am only three chapters in, so maybe it gets better. Of course, I could have done a lot better but no one asked me.
There's a (totally campy) environmental website for the new movie tooHETFET.ORGEnjoy!
Now I must go watch Cool Air, which I bought four days ago and haven't watched because I was reading Alhazred. Then I can read some more of The Golden Army... and then maybe I'll clean, because I haven't in quite some time.
June 19th
In ancient Rome, the Day of All Heras began tonight in honor of the Goddess within as well as all wise women.
(Tomorrow is Midsummer's eve! If you have any herbs, this is considered one of the best times to harvest, so plan ahead. Also, it is said that herbs harvested at this time and dried over the Midsummer's eve bonfire are most potent!)

Thanks for the reminder about Midsummer's eve. Life has gotten too hectic to remember much.
I liked the movie of Hellboy--haven't read anything further about it though.
I love that character. Didn't know they had other than graphic novels featuring him. Loved the movie. I have an animated Hellboy movie, too. I'll have to try the novelizations.
Media - books and movies - are so tasty! I'm finishing two portfolios today and then I start a new class Monday. This weekend I hope to finish a couple of books
