Answer any one or all of these questions in the coming week. I try to mix the whimsical with the serious here, so hopefully there is at least one question here for everyone.
January 19th
Thorrablottar, Husband's Day, is sacred to the Norse God Thor. Men ceremoniously welcome him into their homes. Rising before anyone else, the head of a household is instructed to go outside clad only in his shirt and underwear and hop all the way around his home on one foot. Then he bids Thor welcome to his home. Wives are supposed to treat their mates especially well.
On the 5th day of Pamenot in the Egyptian calendar, the festival of Lights occurs as Neith Goes Forth from Sais.

There's a good round of questions this week. I never did figue out what the strangest thing that ever happened to me was.
I don't give change to street beggars. Noooooo. My thinking is, if you can sit on a curb and beg all day, you can probably get a job! Most of that is controlled by gangs and stuff anyway (or so I hear).
@heidenkind - It depends upon the situation I guess. One time, when I was a kid, my family went to Philly to the museum and while we were there, this guy came up and said, "Would you please donate to United Negro Pizza fund?" For a minute, we just stared at him, like 'are you serious?' Then we all laughed and my mom gave him five bucks. I mean, he wasn't exactly begging and he didn't look homeless, but that was pretty original. We had to give him credit. I'm with you on not just handing out money to people who hold up signs or sit on street corners, but I wouldn't be adverse to buying some food or something warm to drink and giving it to them. I mean, if you're worried about them spending the money on alcohol or drugs, which is the first thing I would be concerned about. Ideally, I'd want to do something to get them a job, and sometimes the sign says "will work for food." Hobos used to hop trains during the depression and show up at people's houses, offering to do chores for food. I don't see anything wrong with that, though it's more dangerous to let a stranger work around your house than it was back then.
@harmony0stars - That is pretty creative and funny. I probably would have given him a few bucks, too, especially I once convinced someone to give me two dollars for the "keep Tasha awake" fund (Starbucks). That reminds me that I did once give a homeless guy $5 when he recommended a jazz club for us to have dinner at. lol I was only going to give him one (I was with a bunch of people and they were all giving him one or two dollars), and he saw the five and said, "Why don't you give me that one?" So I was like, "Fiiiiiiine." I'm a sap.
